A Golden Moment for a Mother

There are always "Golden Moments" for Mothers along the way, but I love the one that I saw and heard yesterday.  I have been sick the past couple of days, and a friend from church offered to take the boys for the afternoon.  I decided that I should probably send the boys with a lunch, but wasn't up for making it all myself.  So, I asked Hunter to make two Peanut Butter and Honey sandwiches.  He happily jumped at the opportunity to help me out.
While he was making the sandwich, I sat on the couch and was chatting with him.  I mentioned that fact that we met a 10 year old boy last week who came to visit some relatives in Alaska.  When his Aunt asked him to make his own sandwich for lunch, he had no idea how to do such a thing.
Hunter just looked at me with big eyes and said, "I can't believe his mom didn't teach him how to make a sandwich!"  He then proceeded to tell me that he was glad that I have been teaching he and Chance how to do a few things that are important for LIFE.

It made me smile to know that if nothing else, my boys know how to make a good PB and Honey Sandwich.

We've Only Just Begun

With 3 boys in our house, you can only imagine the amount of teasing that goes on in our house.  It is fun, and usually isn't done out cruelty...USUALLY!
Now that we have a little girl in our family, I'm sure the amount of teasing will increase with her age...but it has started already.
If you will notice in the middle of the play thing, there is something blackish/brown hanging there.
If you look in the picture below, you will notice it is a rat.
Poor Natalie, this is just the beginning of life with the McGee boys.
I guess she will be tough like her Momma.

My Aunt Valerie (my mom's sister) came for a visit.  She was excited to see my sweet little girl and my boys who she hasn't seen for 3 years.
The boys had fun with her and they played games, and talked lots!
She even babysat one night while Kelly and I went out for our 10 year anniversary.
Valerie wasn't too sure about our cool weather and mosquitoes, but she made it through her visit alive.
Natalie seemed to enjoy the extra person in our house to keep her entertained, happy, and sleeping well.
Natalie made it through Valerie's pacifier and carseat training.
(She's doing better with both these days)
A sweet big brother!

Old Man Doo

It was the boys' haircut day and Hunter had previously had a mohawk for ONE WEEK just for fun.  Chance opted for just a regular haircut that day because he doesn't care for the mohawk look.  The following Saturday Hunter had to get his mohawk shaved off for church and his cut was going to be a short "buzz cut".  Chance decided that a buzz sounded good for the summer so he lined up for a haircut from Dad.
Apparently, as Kelly was cutting Chance's hair he had a GENIUS idea to give him an "old man doo".  So he did!  He shaved the top off and left the sides on.  We haven't laughed so hard in a LONG time.  I was drooling because I was laughing so hard.  Hunter was crying from the shower because he was laughing so hard.  Kelly was on the floor with his knees pulled up to his chest laughing so hard-- and Chance was jumping on top of Kelly fuming mad yelling that he wanted a different haircut.
It was GREAT!!
As you can see, it was a lovely haircut!

2 Months Old

Two Months Old!!!
Time goes by so quickly- Natalie loves to kick and smile and occasionally coo or make another fun sound.
At her two month Dr.'s appt. she weighed  11 lbs 10oz
Growing like a weed!

I was trying to catch her eyelashes in this picture.  You can't tell, but they are super long and she is getting dark brown eyes like Hunter.
SWEET!!

Kindergarten Program

Rather than a Kindergarten graduation- Hunter's school just does a program.  If you look really hard, he is in the back row on the left in a black polo shirt.
Hunter loves to sing and did a good job knowing all of the songs.
(He does like to act like he is too cool for them though!)

Hunter was given one of just a few speaking parts in the program.  He got to introduce a song called GRIZZLY BEAR.
He said, "Grizzly Bear is a song we love.  It tells of what will happen if you waken a sleeping Grizzly...He gets very mad!!!"
He did a great job on his part and was very animated and had just the right voice.
We are proud of Hunter and his completion of Kindergarten.
It is fun to watch him learn and grow.
